Kathy began her career with The Co-operators in 1978. Prior to her appointment as President and Chief ExecutiveOfficer of The Co-operators Group on March 1, 2002, Kathy served as Chief Operating Officer of The SovereignGeneral and L’Union Canadienne. From 1998-2002, she was in charge of operations for these companies and theirsubsidiaries under the umbrella of The Co operators Group Limited.A graduate of McMaster University’s M.B.A. program, Kathy also holds a Bachelor of Science degree inMathematics from the University of Manitoba. An industry leader, Kathy is a board member of the Institute of Catastrophic Loss Reduction. Equally active in theco-operative sector, Kathy serves as Chair of the International Cooperative and Mutual Insurance Federation and amember of the Credit Union Central of Canada’s CEO committee. Warren Edwardes is CEO of Delphi Risk Management Ltd., the London-based financial instrument innovation and risk management consultancy. Prior to founding Delphi he was on the board of the British merchant bank, Charterhouse Bank as Director, Financial Engineering. He has also worked for the Equitable Life Assurance Society, the UK Government Actuary's Department and the treasuries of British Gas, Barclays Bank and Midland Bank as a strategist, dealer, asset/liability risk manager and product developer.
Edwardes' best-selling book "Key financial instruments: understanding and innovating in the world of derivatives" (FT Prentice Hall) includes an Appendix on Islamic Banking as a case study on financial innovation.

Syed Husain is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, England and Wales and also a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan. He is the Managing Partner of Husain Rahman, Chartered Accountants, an associated firm of Deloitte & Touche.
Syed Husain is also the Chairman of Yaqeen Education Foundation, managing Yaqeen Model School. The school is based upon his conceptual framework for an Islamic school incorporating worldly education yet providing a solid foundation in the upbringing of children in accordance to the teachings of Islam.
Syed Husain is one of the founding members of the Centre for Islamic Economics. He was a member of the State Bank of Pakistan's high powered Commission for Transformation of Financial system and he is presently a member of the ministry of Finance Task Force for Transformation of Government Finance - both the organization established trough Supreme Court's Judgment on Riba.
He a Jurist Consult to the Supreme Court for Riba Judgment.
Syed Husain has also served as a Trustee of Accounting and Audit Organization for Islamic Banks (AAOFI).
Syed Husain also served as a Chairman and Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants' Committee for Accounting Standards for Islamic Financial Institutions.
Syed Husain also led the efforts for design and implementation of first Shari'ah Compliant Musharkah Corporate Bond in Pakistan.

Guy David is a former head of the Business Law Department in the Ottawa office of Gowlings. His areas of practice include banking, corporate finance and international law. His practice covers both transaction-oriented assignments and advising on financial legislation.
Over the years he has participated in many international transactions in various jurisdictions as counsel to the Export Development Corporation, Canadian banks and commercial enterprises. His corporate finance/M&A practice includes public bond financings as well as negotiated and hostile acquisitions of private and public companies.
Mr. David has considerable experience in structuring and negotiating financial transactions, including Government of Canada financings, international equipment financings with complex security and inter-lender arrangements, infrastructure and privatization-related project financings and asset securitizations. Among other accomplishments he has drafted legislation for Cambodia on contract with the International Monetary Fund, co-ordinated the firm's advice to the Government of Mexico in the field of financial services in connection with the North American Free Trade Agreement, and acted as project leader on a number of IFI-funded international development projects in Asia and the Caribbean region.

Mr. Hasan A Bilgrami is the Chief Executive Officer and Director of BankIslami. His association with the BankIslami started as a consultant to the sponsoring shareholders right at the inception of the project where he was responsible for developing the business plan, arranging permissions, staffing and capital raising. Previously he worked as the Head of Asset Management with the National Investment Trust (NIT), as Country Manager Consumer Banking & Corporate Business with Gulf Commercial Bank (now PICIC Commercial Bank Limited) as General Manager Corporate Finance with ORIX Investment Bank and as Director and Head of Corporate Finance with Khalid Majid Husain Rahman, then a member firm of Deloitte & Touche.
Hasan has hands on experience in structuring Islamic modes of financing while he worked as a Secretary of the Financial Instruments Committee of the Islamic Finance Commission. His specific task was development of model financial instruments that could be used by the financial services industry in Pakistan. The scope of work not only included both asset and liability side products, but also included areas such as risk management and capital adequacy. Model agreements were also part of the mandate. His work of model agreements has been approved by the Shariah Board of the State Bank of Pakistan and have become the industry standard.
He has also been a Director on board of PICIC, Soneri Bank Limited, Fauji Fertilizer Company Limited and National Refinery Limited. He is also a Director on the Board of KSB Pumps Limited as well as a Chairman of the Audit Committee. He has overall 17 years of professional experience.

Dr. Tariqullah Khan, born in Chitral, Pakistan (1954) is currently Senior Economist at IRTI. Before joining IRTI in 1983, he was in the faculty of the Economics Department, Gomal University, Pakistan (1976-81), and International Institute of Islamic Eocnomics, International Islamic University, Pakistan (1981-83), teaching in particular, monetary, development and international economics. He has an M.A. (Economics) degree from the University of Karachi, Pakistan and a Ph.D. degree from the Loughborough University, United Kingdom.
At IRTI, Dr. Khan's research interest has been in the area of theoretical development in Islamic finance and its practical challenges in an international, mixed and competitive environment. In this area, his research works published by IRTI include: "Alternative Strategies for International Financing" (1988), Principles of Islamic Financing (1992), both with Monzer Kahf, Economics of Diminishing Musharakah (1995) with Boualem Bendjilali, Islamic Financial Instruments for Public Sector Resource Mobilization (ed., 1997) with Ausaf Ahmad, Contractual International Investments: Relevance for Islamic Economics (1992), Redeemable Islamic Financial Instruments for Capital Participation in Enterprises (1995), "Demand for and Supply of Mark-up and PLS Funds in Islamic Banks: (1995), and Performance and Practices of Modaraba Companies with Special Reference to Pakistan (1996).

Prior to founding Cougar in 1993, Dr. Breech spent over fifteen years specializing in global capital markets. He taught advanced international finance in the M.B.A. program in the Faculty of Administrative Studies and was a tenured Full Professor at York University in Toronto. Dr. Breech earned his B.A.(Honours) in English Language and Literature at the University of Toronto (1966), his Ph.D. in Hellenistic and Greco-Roman History at Harvard University (1974), and his M.B.A in International Finance at the Wharton School (1983). Mr. Soliman’s practice focuses primarily on public and private financings, corporate governance and regulatory compliance matters as well as on the establishment of structured products for Canadian financial institutions.
Mr. Soliman has worked on both public and private financings for senior and junior Canadian issuers. His corporate governance experience includes playing a leading role in the establishment of board, committee, CEO and chairman mandates for one of Canada’s leading financial institutions. Mr. Soliman regularly advises on regulatory issues, including continuous disclosure and other compliance matters. His structured product experience includes the establishment of dozens of index-linked and equity-linked deposit products for Canadian financial institutions.
In 2003, Mr. Soliman spent five months on a secondment to the legal group of CIBC. In 2002, he spent three months on a secondment to the Ontario Securities Commission in the Enforcement Branch.
Prior to completing his law degree, Mr. Soliman worked as a senior assistant to a member of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario.
